Abecassis had raced before the war and eventually got involved with the Alta Grand Prix car project. One thing led to another, and he co-founded the HWM marque, which run effectively for a few years. So it was not difficult for him to get rides, being a team principal! In the world championship his participation was limited to a couple of starts in the Swiss Grand Prix, namely the 1951 and 52 editions. He retired both times, but did manage to start 10th in the 1952 race. He continued involvement in the sport until 1956.
