Born in Marseille, France 2/28/1914

(c) 'Who is Who' by Steve Small, 2000

Not a spring chicken in 1951, Elie impressed driving small engined Panhard's in France. So he bought an OSCA, and decided to enter a few GPs in the next two years. He qualified 10th out of 35th in Italy, 1952, and retired. His other OSCA outings were much the same.

In 1954, Bayol was hired by Gordini to staff its team in Argentina, and although 2 laps behind, Bayol finished 5th and scored rare points for Gordini, and the only ones of his career. He was a bad boy at Bordeaux. ignoring team orders, and was fired, only to be rehired for 1955. The Gordini's were fragile, and he retired both times he drove.

Although he had a nasty shunt at le mans, Bayol recovered made one last GP appearance, in Monaco, 1956, finishing 6th. Unfortunately, at the time this was not a points paying position, also racing a Reims with Da Silva Ramos.
