Andersson was one of the main F-3 drivers of the mid seventies, but by then he was way past 30! He started late, so any chances of progressing much were slim at best. In 1976 he was runner up in the European F3 championship, and was called to race for Surtees in the Dutch GP. He qualified 26th and retired from the race, with engine problems. Conny was unlucky enough to be called to drive for BRM, which by 1977 was in its last legs. He never came close to qualifying the bulky P207, and after four attempts, retired from the sport for good.
